Practice Description:
Conflict Resolution and Individual Conflict Coaching
My strengths lie in helping to transform intense, complex and highly involved conflicts. I can often support a shift to more breathing room, greater clarity and a release of emotional and other pain, and this in turn leads to resolution.
Note that in the practice areas, I have listed nearly all the areas because my magic, such as it is, has to do with human relations. I'm not going to give you advice about real estate or construction codes. But I will help you, together or individually, to agree on wiser decisions.
I have a wide experience in virtual conflict resolution, even before COVID times.
Approach to Practice / Form of Mediation:
My approach is very client-oriented, meaning that I take my lead from what the people in the conflict need. To do this, I draw on a wide repertoire of skills from hard-core decision science to Improv approaches or body awareness. Each person has an inner conflict-resolution specialist: I trust that with a little help and a safe and fair environment, your inner conflict resolution specialist will know exactly how to proceed. That's what I build the process towards.
Background:
My background? I am a white woman raised in Europe and the United States, with a strange mix of foreignness and straight up classic upper-middle-class east-coast-ness from the last century. I have a disease that involved, for a long time, extreme chronic pain (and doesn't any more), but still troubles me. This experience has rounded a few of the corners off of some of my certitude, gave me a bit more complexity in my intersectionality and lent me a deeper pool of resources from which to draw in my practice as a mediator.
Education / Training:
My education and training include a law degree, a master's in soil science, tons of classes (studied and taught) in conflict resolution and effective communication, a half-dozen years working with a decision scientist (which whom I still collaborate), Improv, therapeutic art and now, an extensive program in body awareness (which includes understanding your own and others' tells in negotiation). I started my mediation practice in 2006 and specialized for a long time in large, complex, public environmental cases but now focus more on smaller, more intimate conflict resolution.
I speak very good Spanish.
