Practice Description:
Donna Silverberg is owner and principal of DS Consulting, a full service woman-owned conflict management and mediation firm that focuses primarily on aspects of public policy. Working closely with clients to assess the type or format of service that best meets their needs, services include: large group facilitation or mediation; conflict-needs assessment; one-on-one negotiation skills coaching; dispute systems design; negotiation, mediation and communication skills training; negotiated rulemaking; collaborative problem solving; and consensus building. Clients include: local, state, and federal agencies; tribal governments; non-profit organizations; businesses; and community groups. Donna's practice includes being an active member of OMA since 1994. She served on the Board from 1998 to 2005, three of those years as Board President.
Approach to Practice / Form of Mediation:
Helping participants work together to increase understanding and communication of their interests so they may resolve not only "this" issue, but issues that may arise in the future is at the heart of our mediation and conflict management services. We use a variety of the latest and most effective techniques to help clients enhance communication so they can achieve innovative, satisfying, and lasting results. Because of a strong training background, all services are provided with the goal of improving participants' ability to understand and manage future conflicts.
Background:
Donna Silverberg has been in the field of mediation and consensus building involving local, state, federal and tribal governments, businesses and the public since 1988. Her practice includes direct services to help government and other organizations discuss, manage and resolve contentious issues. Her mediation work has included a wide range of topics ranging from contracts to employee relations to health care to natural resource and complex public policy issues. She was the Assistant Director of San Diego's Center for Municipal Dispute Resolution, Acting Director of the Oregon Dispute Resolution Commission, served as Special Assistant on Dispute Resolution to Governor Kitzhaber's Natural Resources Office, and helped design and coordinate the state's Public Policy Dispute Resolution Program. She is a member of the California State Bar, the Association for Conflict Resolution, and the Oregon Mediation Association. Education / Training:
J.D. Univ. of San Diego School of Law; B.A. Lewis & Clark College in Sociology, emphasis in Gender Studies. Post Grad: more than 1000 hours of basic and advanced mediation, negotiation and communication skills training received. Adjunct or visiting professor at: Univ. of Oregon School of Law,Lipscomb Universisty, Pepperdine Univ. Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Hamline Univ., the Univ. San Diego School of Law and Univ. of Idaho School of Law. She served as Co-chair, ADR Section of the San Diego Co. Bar Asso. and Co-Chair, Environmental and Public Policy Section of national-based SPIDR/Association for Conflict Resolution.

$200 per hour, negotiable. Free one-hour assessment consultation to help clients determine their best conflict resolution options.
