Practice Description:
The Dispute Resolution Center is a free and confidential service of the Mayor’s Office providing mediation, facilitation and conflict resolution education to residents of Washington County. Our staff and trained volunteers help people resolve conflicts in the areas of neighbors, landlords & tenants, homeowners, co-workers, business & consumers, elders and workplace. Our mediations help parties to, talk about their concerns, discuss their issues and interests, explore options for mutual gain, and assist with parties coming to written agreements. Follow-up and further assistance is provided when needed.
Approach to Practice / Form of Mediation:
Background:
We have been serving the community since 1988. Our staff and community volunteers are professionally trained mediators, skilled in communication and conflict resolution.
Education / Training:
Four professional staff; 50 volunteer mediators who are required to successfully complete a 50-hour basic mediation course and a supervised one year apprenticeship within the program. Volunteers and staff regularly participate in advanced mediation courses.
Fee Information:
Beaverton Dispute Resolution Center offers free mediation services to the community. We offer a sliding scale for facilitation and conflict management workshops.
