Practice Description:
Private practice of family mediation (domestic relations, parenting plans, family financial, unmarried couple, domestic partnerships), child welfare (adoptions, guardianships, third party intervenors) and Indian Child Welfare (ICWA)and workplace mediation (employee-employee and supervisor/employer -employee disputes).
Approach to Practice / Form of Mediation:
I use an interest-based approach, utilizing joint (face-to-face) mediation and caucus as appropriate.
Background:
I believe that the parties to the conflict are the ones to have ownership over the conflict and ownership of the resolution. The mediation process can help give the participants a voice in their decisions.
Education / Training:
Education and Trainings: B.A. 1983, English Literature, Lewis & Clark College; J.D. 1989, Lewis & Clark College (with Environment Law Certificate);M.S. Conflict Resolution 2003, Portland State University; practiced law from 1989-1999 (environmental, Indian law, and child welfare). Trainings: Confluence NW - October 1995 -Basic Mediation Training; Center for Conflict Studies - 1997 - 40-hour Negotiation and Mediation Training; Clackamas County Family Court Service - Sept. 1997-June 1998 - 500+ hour Internship in Divorce Mediation; Center for Conflict Studies - 1998 - 40 hours advanced Training;Advanced Family Mediation Skills-2002-24 hours-Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution; Advanced Workplace Mediation Training-2005-Confluence Center for Mediation and Training.
Fee Information:
$175.00 per hour, sliding scale available.
